For the sixth consecutive year, the Valero Alamo Bowl will host the Shining Star ENERGY Youth Football Clinic on July 18 from 9 a.m. – Noon inside the Alamodome.
A coaching staff with more than 325 years of collegiate experience will run this free clinic for 500 youth ages 5-14.
Head coaches Larry Coker (University of Texas-San Antonio), Larry Kennan (University of Incarnate Word) and Danny Padron (Texas Lutheran) will head the staff that includes more than 30 coaches from the University of Incarnate Word, UTSA, Texas Lutheran and Trinity University.
The youth clinic is part of the Valero Alamo Bowl’s youth initiative to promote college football to those that dream of playing the game. Youths will participate in offense, defense/agility and blocking/tackling drills run by the university coaches. In addition, Coker, Kennan and Padron will address the participants about the fundamentals of being a good football player on the field and a great student-athlete in the classroom.
Youth participants will receive a goodie bag including a Shining Star ENERGY Youth Football t-shirt, as well as a lunch at the conclusion of the event, courtesy of Whataburger.
