Meet our Balloon Guy, Patrick McFall

Patrick McFall has had one of the most unique views of the Valero Alamo Bowl for the past 24 years. From the catwalk, high above the game, he’s coordinated the balloon drop as part of the post-game celebration every year.

“It’s an unbelievable perspective,” said Patrick. “No matter how many times I’m up there for the balloon drop, my heart pounds with excitement. I wait until they bring out the stage and begin handing out the trophies to the star players and head coach of the winning team. Then once I hear the confetti cannons launch, I drop over 10-thousand balloons onto the field. I love being able to add something magical to all of the action below.”

Born and raised in San Antonio, Patrick’s balloon decor business, Balloon Productions, is one of many local businesses that play an integral part in the success of the Valero Alamo Bowl.

“It’s been great to see so many small businesses come together to be part of the Alamo Bowl again and again. It’s very personal to me. I’ve seen this bowl game grow just as I’ve seen San Antonio grow. I believe that having a major event of this caliber has shown that San Antonio is equipped to handle any level of event and handle it beautifully.”

As for the 25th Anniversary of the Valero Alamo Bowl, “It’s going to be the best yet. We’re already gearing up to add our part to the celebration. After all, what’s a 25th Anniversary without balloons?”

Happy 25th Anniversary, Valero Alamo Bowl!
