CASA: Providing a Voice for Children in Need

Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in foster care. CASA is part of the nationwide organization Court Appointed Special Advocates. The national organization includes more than 900 local chapters across the country with more than 77,000 volunteers, helping over 234,000 children find a safe and permanent homes last year. CASA was established by the San Antonio chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women in 1984 and has been serving the children of Bexar County for over 30 years.

CASA volunteers provide constancy for abused and neglected children, while also advocating for services and placement in permanent homes. Last year alone, local CASA volunteers contributed over 25,000 hours of their time to advocate for Bexar Country children. Child Advocates of San Antonio served 47% of children that entered State custody last year and have a goal to serve 2,050 children in South Texas this year.

Through a partnership with CASA, the Valero Alamo Bowl will welcome 30 San Antonio area children to a day of team practice during Bowl Week. The children will watch the team practice, meet the players and make lasting memories.
