Updated Stadium Capacities

Everyone playing college football this Fall has announced they will start their season with reduced stadium capacities.

Here are the current attendance plans for Big 12 schools:

Baylor: 25% of capacity

Iowa State: No fans for their home opener.

Kansas: No fans for their home opener.

Kansas State: 25% of capacity

Oklahoma: 25% of capacity

Oklahoma State: 25% of capacity

TCU:  25% of capacity

Texas: 25% of capacity

Texas Tech: 25% of capacity

West Virginia: No fans for their home opener.

What are other Texas teams planning?

Cowboys: 25% of capacity (100% in suites)

Texans: No fans for their home opener.

Texas A&M: 25% of capacity

UTEP: 18% of capacity

UTSA: 17% of capacity (50% capacity in suites)

What does this mean for the Valero Alamo Bowl?

Since the Alamodome holds 65,000, the city’s current attendance plan means approximately 11,000 fans would be able to attend the Valero Alamo Bowl if it was held today.

While this number is far below our 62,000 person average attendance, we have the benefit of time. By the end of September, we hope to see teams safely host games throughout Texas and the continued reduction of COVID’s impact in San Antonio.

The post-season will be the final chapter written of this year’s college football season, so we appreciate our supporters’ patience as we await more details on the plans for the 2020 Valero Alamo Bowl.
