Meet the Intern: Brianne Wigley

It’s time for the final installment of our “Meet the Intern” series! We continue today with Brianne Wigley, our Communications Coordinator.

Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida!

Q: What is your Alma Mater? What is your degree in?
A: I’m what you call a “Double Gator”. I graduated from the University of Florida with my undergraduate degree in sports broadcasting and a minor in sports management, and I received my Master’s in Public Relations from UF in May.

Q: What is your position at the Valero Alamo Bowl, and what are you responsible for?
A: I’m the communications coordinator. I handle all of the media relations and social media, as well as assist in all the public relations efforts leading up to bowl week.

Q: What got you into public relations?

A: While focusing on sports broadcasting during my undergraduate career I realized I had a passion for working behind the scenes to publicize stories that are rarely told. I love getting the chance to highlight the lesser-known more positive side of sports, such as the $500,000+ in scholarships the Valero Alamo Bowl is giving away this year to make a difference in the lives of San Antonio youth.

Q: What part of this experience are you most excited about?
A: The bowl game! I can’t wait to see everyone’s hard work pay off with what I know will be an unforgettable bowl week.

Q: Where do you see yourself in five years?
A: Working my way up the ladder in sports communications and social media management. Whether it be at a college, pro team or a bowl game, I love being in the sports industry and will be working hard to continue to make that happen.
