The 2023 Valero Alamo Bowl featuring #12 Oklahoma and #14 Arizona generated a total economic impact of $55.9 million for San Antonio last year and brought 43,333 visitors to town, according to a report conducted by Economic Analytics Consulting, LLC.
The impact is the highest total since the $57.6 million impact from the 2010 Valero Alamo Bowl between Oklahoma State and Arizona and the fourth highest total since the event’s inception in 1993.
The 2023 report also indicated an average length of stay of 2.9 days with 29.3% of the out-of-state guests making their first visit to San Antonio.
Since the Valero Alamo Bowl’s inception, the 31 games have now combined to deliver a total economic impact more than $1.1 billion to the San Antonio community from the 1.8 million attendees.
In the 2023 Valero Alamo Bowl (the game’s eighth Top 25 matchup in the last 10 years), Arizona clawed back from a 11-point deficient to defeat Oklahoma 38-24.
Proceeds from the event help fund the largest local scholarship program among all bowl games as the Valero Alamo Bowl and its partners collectively awarded over $1.2 million split between 165 students representing every participating San Antonio area high school and four-year university last season.

Tickets for the 2024 Valero Alamo Bowl go onsale on June 6 at www.alamobowl.com/game-tickets in conjunction with the announcement of the kickoff date and time. An announcement about the opponents to be matched against the Big 12 Conference for the 2024 and 2025 games is expected this month.
