Dylan was born and raised in Dana Point, California. She graduated from Oklahoma State University this past May with an honors degree in sports media. She recently moved to San Antonio and joined the Valero Alamo Bowl team in the Communications and Marketing department.
What is your favorite thing about living in San Antonio?
So far, I’ve loved living in San Antonio! I never visited the city prior to moving here, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much the city has to offer. There is so much of this city I have yet to explore and I’m excited to (hopefully soon) figure out what my favorite restaurant and hang out spots will be!
What has been your favorite part about working for the Valero Alamo Bowl?
The Valero Alamo Bowl team is made up of such knowledgeable and positive members, I’m so honored they selected me to be a part of this special community! Even though I just started my career here, I’ve been given so many different opportunities that have allowed me to get a true feel for what my role will entail.
What inspired you to pursue a career in sports?
I knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue a career in sports. I was a competitive soccer player for almost my entire life (ages four to 19…), so when the opportunity to remain in the sports world but not be a player was presented to me, I immediately jumped at the chance. I love the thrill competition brings, and the camaraderie found within the sports community. Here at the Valero Alamo Bowl, I’ve found both!
What do you like about communications?
I’m a very outgoing person and have always loved being able to share my passion for sports with others. It’s the perfect outlet for me to combine my competitive spirit with my knowledge of sports media.
Since you’ll be helping administer our Extra Yard for Teachers and Touchdown for Teachers programs, is there a specific teacher that helped you mover closer to achieving your dream job?
I owe a lot of thanks to one of my college professors, Max Andrews. He has been a huge supporter of all my sports broadcast opportunities and has been a mentor of mine since my freshman year of college. He really pushed me to dive head-first into sports media, and without his guidance I’m not sure if I would have gotten the chance to be working at the Valero Alamo Bowl. (Also shoutout to my sister who became a teacher this year!)
