SeaWorld Goes Big for the Holiday Season

Swimming with Dolphins, Extraordinary Rides, and a Wintery Holiday Wonderland Among the Highlights for Visiting Alamo Bowl Players and Guests at SeaWorld

SeaWorld is known as the largest marine life park in the land, but this holiday season it has been transformed into the biggest Christmas celebration and largest light display in Texas! SeaWorld Christmas Celebration returns now through January 2, 2023. The park is all decked out in yuletide flair including 9 million twinkling lights, 12 themed holiday areas, Santa, roasting s’mores, and for the first time will feature O’ Wondrous Night, an amazing new live-action stage show featuring music, dance, puppetry, and live animals, where the story of the first Christmas is told through the eyes of the animals who experienced it. SeaWorld is the perfect place to create memorable holiday traditions with family and friends. It’s a wonderful and magical time of the year!

But something else makes this time of year magical and wonderful, and that’s the annual visit to the marine life park by the teams competing in the Valero Alamo Bowl. Year-after-year for over a decade, in between press conference, practices, and team pep rallies, the Alamo Bowl competitors, coaches, and their families have visited SeaWorld for a day of fun. No doubt one of the most interesting aspects of this tradition is the animal interaction that these college football phenoms get to experience. Football pads and helmets are traded for wetsuits as players enter the chilly watery world of some amazing animals! On December 26th, SeaWorld is once again excited to continue the tradition and welcome both competing teams to the park for a day of adventure and excitement including swimming with dolphins!

Collegiate players aren’t the only ones who can come “face to fin” with animals from the sea. Guests who visit SeaWorld year-round can experience up-close animal interactions with beluga whales, bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, puffins, and can even enjoy a chef created meal mere footsteps away from the ocean’s top predator, the orca whale during the ever popular Dine with Orcas. All of these unique animal interactions provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation for these magnificent marine animals and their habitats.

SeaWorld is known for animals, but one can’t forget that it is also home to thrilling rides! The park features an impressive collection of exciting rides including the Great White, a floorless inverted coaster; the Steel Eel, a hyper-coaster that takes guest through a series of gravity defying camelbacks; Texas Stingray, the tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster in Texas; Wave Breaker: the Rescue Coaster, where guests board jet ski-like cars and join SeaWorld’s Rescue Team to help an animal in need; and Tidal Surge, the world’s tallest and fastest ride of its kind. Coming in 2023, the park will open Catapult Falls, a first-of-its-kind ride that combines the thrill of a launched roller coaster, the excitement of a vertical lift elevator that lifts riders above the theme park, and a water flume ride with the steepest drop, to produce multiple rushes of adrenaline as well as moments of exciting splashes to cool guests down.

Whether you want to dive in and come face to face with majestic animals, ride adrenaline pumping coasters, or stroll through acres of a wintry Christmas wonderland, SeaWorld San Antonio is the place to make memories during the holidays and every day!
