The holiday season at SeaWorld San Antonio is in full swing, and it’s truly the most festive time of the year. As North America’s largest marine life park, SeaWorld San Antonio has transformed into a spectacular Christmas destination, featuring the largest holiday light display in Texas! From now through January 5th during SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration, the park is adorned with millions of twinkling Christmas lights and offers seasonal entertainment for young and old alike. Guests can explore over a dozen festively decorated areas, enjoy appearances by Texas Santa, visit Rudolph and friends, and experience O Wondrous Night, a one-of-a-kind Christmas spectacular that brings the nativity story to life with puppets, timeless carols, and tells the story of the first Christmas as seen through the eyes of the animals that were there.
But there’s something extra special about this time of year – the arrival of the teams participating in the Valero Alamo Bowl. For more than a decade, in between press conferences, team practices, and pep rallies; players, coaches, and families from the Alamo Bowl teams have visited SeaWorld for a day of fun and adventure. The highlight of this annual tradition is the unique opportunity for the athletes to interact with SeaWorld’s amazing animals. Trading their football gear for wetsuits, the players get to dive into the park’s aquatic world and experience unforgettable animal encounters. On December 25th, SeaWorld will host the Brigham Young University Cougars and the University of Colorado Buffaloes for a day filled with excitement, including the chance to swim with dolphins! The thrill continues as the athletes brave the Steel Eel, a 150-foot-tall hyper-coaster that offers multiple moments of weightlessness.
It’s not just the football players who can enjoy animal encounters. Visitors to SeaWorld throughout the year can get up-close with a variety of animals, including sharks, penguins, and beluga whales. Guests can even indulge in a chef-curated meal just steps away from the ocean’s top predator during the exclusive Dine with Orcas experience.
While SeaWorld is renowned for its animals and conservation efforts, it’s also home to thrilling rides that keep adrenaline junkies coming back for more. The park boasts a collection of heart-pounding attractions, including Great White, a floorless inverted coaster; Steel Eel, a hyper-coaster with gravity-defying drops; Texas Stingray, the tallest and fastest wooden coaster in Texas; Wave Breaker: The Rescue Coaster, where guests ride jet ski-like vehicles to help rescue animals; Tidal Surge, the world’s tallest and fastest ride of its kind; and Catapult Falls, a groundbreaking ride combining a launched coaster with a water flume experience with the world’s steepest drop.
Looking ahead to 2025, SeaWorld will debut Rescue Jr., an all- new, kid-friendly play area. This immersive, hands-on zone is themed to introduce young guests to SeaWorld’s animal rescue efforts while enjoying in thrilling rides like an all-new kid friendly roller coaster, a scenic train ride, a soaring swing, a whirling carousel, as well as a new splash pad for cooling down in the hot summer sun. Rescue Jr. promises to be an exciting, fun, and educational experience for families while inspiring a deep connection to conservation efforts.
