In 2023, the Valero Alamo Bowl hosted 55,853 fans from across the country. For some, it was their first college football game experience, including the 40 guests as part of last year’s Send a Kid to the Bowl presented by Vantage Bank.
Vanatge Bank teamed up with the Valero Alamo Bowl to send families and students associated with ChildSafe and YoungLife San Antonio to the top-15 matchup between the Arizona Wildcats and Oklahoma Sooners. In addition to attending the game, each guest had the opportunity to access the field during pregame warmups and be close to the action ahead of kickoff.
“I had a really fun time and enjoyed going on the field,” said Brandon Rogers, a YoungLife San Antonio student. “My favorite memory was when Arizona made that incredible comeback.”
“My experience was amazing, and I had a ton of fun with some of my favorite guys while watching my favorite sport,” said Noah Carmona, a YoungLife San Antonio student.
The Valero Alamo Bowl prides itself on giving back to the community and being more than just a game. Thanks to Vantage Bank, the Send a Kid to the Bowl campaign was an extension of the charitable efforts the Bowl prioritizes on an annual basis. Last season, the Bowl awarded $1.2 million in local scholarships to 165 deserving students throughout San Antonio, hosted over 4,000 service members and first responders, provided 63,529 meals to the San Antonio Food Bank, and awarded 30 local teachers classroom grants for the upcoming school year.
The Valero Alamo Bowl looks forward to the continued impact through the power of college football and working with its partners to make a difference in the community.
